While the notion of a "post-pandemic" environment (and the factors used to determine its arrival) may vary from person to person and organization to organization, the futility in failing to look past our current circumstances and implement meaningful change is shared by every hospital and healthcare institution in this country. However we envisage the second half of 2021 and beyond, the need to anticipate and weather change has never been more evident, and just making it through the pandemic in one piece is not in itself vindication for how an organization has been doing business. You cannot continue to rely on the same approach that allowed your problems to foment when trying to resolve those problems, and healthcare organizations--from the leadership on down--cannot continue to tread water.
